Double Dog Dare

A 5-Week Series to Improve Your Health, Emotions, Marriage, Kids, or Career

Published: August 8, 2016 Updated: February 6, 2017

"Double Dog Dare" is a compelling, 5-week series designed to begin in January while people are busy making New Year's resolutions.  Each message includes a dare to make improvements, and a double dog dare to commit to improve one key area of life: health, emotional maturity, marriage, parenting, or career.  Small groups were formed around these five areas of focus.  In addition, 12Stone held its first-ever 5K as part of this series near the close of the small group semester.  It drew more than 2,400 participants.

Week 1: "Get in Shape" - You can’t conquer what conquers you with your own power – you need the power of God.  Scripture: Romans 8:31-39

Week 2: "Get Emotionally Mature (Healthy)" - God loves us perfectly.  But dysfunctional love drills a hole in our soul (emotional wounds.)  Scripture: Romans 8:31-39

Week 3: "Fall Back in Love" - Romantic love may start a marriage, but only true love will strengthen a marriage for life.  And true love comes from God alone.  Scripture:  Romans 8

Week 4: "Lead Your Kids" - As a parent, you have the greatest potential to influence your child.  Scripture:  Romans 8

Week 5: "Get in the Game" - While work is a God ordained endeavor, dreaming of the ring is easier than getting the ring.  Includes an interview with football great Jeff Saturday.  Scripture:  Romans 8

Included in this resource are the messages, sermon notes, a small group study guide, graphics, project files, and support videos.  (Note: There is only one small group study guide because we only create these for sermon series that are presented during the time in which small groups are meeting.  Our semesters run from February to May.  Week 5 of Double Dog Dare coincided with the first week of small groups.  We included the small group study guide in this resource so that perhaps you can use it as a model if you'd like to write study guides for the other teachings.)
