Dinner With Jesus

A five-week series on the grace and compassion of Jesus as He ministered to others over meals.

Published: February 17, 2014 Updated: April 30, 2019

“Dinner with Jesus” invites us to take a seat at the table with Jesus as He engages us over meals in New Testament history. We learn how to model the grace and compassion of Jesus as we reach out to modern day “tax collectors and untouchables.”  We discover how meaningful worship, praying in expectation, and learning from failure will fuel our spiritual growth. This series is perfect for summer months because each message is complete as a stand-alone teaching, and will keep messages fresh as vacationers come in and out of weekly attendance.

Week 1: "Levi the Tax Collector" - The old way: If you behave like us, if you believe like us, you can belong with us. Jesus reverses this. Scripture: Luke 5:27-32

Week 2: "Expectations and Worship" - Expectations determine the depth of your worship. Do you worship like a debt has been paid that you could never repay? Scripture: Luke 7:36-50

Week 3: "Always Pray, Never Give Up" - When you pray, ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE. Scripture: John 14:14, Luke 18:1

Week 4: "The Table of Grace" - You get to decide: grudge or grace. Jesus defined and modeled grace in action. Scripture: Luke 22:1-20

Week 5: "Breakfast on the Beach" - Failure identifies the gap between where we are and where we can be. Learning from failure is critical to spiritual growth.  Scripture: John 21
