Local Outreach

Strategy, Partner Organizations, and Online Tools

Published: September 4, 2014 Updated: June 10, 2018

At 12Stone, we believe we are most like Christ when we give ourselves away to individuals in need within our community.  As an organizational strategy, we believe we are best able to do this when we partner with other organizations rather than building our own programs within the church.  We partner and help financially support certain local non-profit ministries in Gwinnett and surrounding counties to be agents of change and transformation.  (A list of the organization with which we partner is included below.)

To invite churchgoers to volunteer with these organizations, we use Meet the Need, an online volunteer opportunity bank.  This tool allows our partner organizations to post their volunteer opportunities and link them back to our web site. We also use Meet the Need for our own volunteer-led local outreach projects.

Partner Organizations

Bearings Bike Shop - The Bearings Bike Shop exists to teach kids the value of hard work, goal setting and respect by rewarding community service with something tangible and valuable, while building positive relationships with adult role models. Their vision is to see the lives of youth who may be at risk of falling through the cracks, grow up to become successful leaders with purpose, character and confidence. And it all starts with a bike.

Eagle Ranch - Eagle Ranch is a Christian-based children’s home for up to 66 boys and girls between the ages of 8 and 18. The Ranch is a multi-faceted center – a home, a school and a counseling center – where children live for a season of their lives while their families learn to put their lives back together again.

Family Promise - Family Promise’s mission is to mobilize communities of congregations that partner with social service agencies to end homelessness – one family at a time. Their mission is achieved by focusing all our resources on just 4 families at a time. Currently, the average stay in our Network is 70 days and 83% of our families graduate our program with full-time employment and permanent housing.

Habitat for Humanity of Gwinnett County - Habitat for Humanity works in partnership with God and people everywhere, from all walks of life, to develop communities with people in need by building and renovating houses so that there are decent houses in decent communities in which every person can experience God’s love and can live and grow into all that God intends.

Habitat for Humanity of Hall County - Serving Hall County since 1989, Habitat for Humanity seeks to put God’s love into action, by bringing people together to build homes, communities and hope. H4H is motivated by the belief that one day all families will own a safe, decent home of their own.

Hi-Hope Center - Located in suburban Atlanta, GA, in the city of Lawrenceville, Hi-Hope supports adults with developmental disabilities in Gwinnett County.

Hope Clinic - The Hope Clinic was founded in 2002 by Dr. William Martin to provide an affordable alternative to the hospital emergency room for the primary care medical needs of the uninsured. The clinic is a vital part of Gwinnett’s healthcare safety net and supplies over half of the available charitable primary care capacity in the county.

Kids Hope USA - Kids Hope USA is an organization that provides direction and support to churches for providing mentors to elementary schools. Kids Hope USA mentors spend just one hour per week, reading, talking, playing and listening to a child at school. By helping the child feel loved and valued, they help that child to learn, grow and succeed.

Lawrenceville Coop - The Lawrenceville Coop seeks to assist those in need by providing food, limited emergency financial assistance for utilities and prescription drugs.

Norcross Coop - The Norcross Cooperative Ministry is dedicated to helping those in crisis by collaborating with the community to offer programs and services that transform lives through the love of Christ.

North Gwinnett Coop - The North Gwinnett Co-Operative Ministries is a faith based organization that provides food, clothing, utility and prescription medication assistance to residents of Buford, Sugar Hill and Suwanee, GA.

Partnership Against Domestic Violence - Partnership Against Domestic Violence (PADV) works to end the crime of intimate partner violence by providing professional, compassionate and empowering support to battered women and their children in the Metro Atlanta area.

Promise686 - Promise686 is dedicated to assisting families who have a heart for caring for orphans. They provide financial assistance, community support, and education along with Care Communities that support the foster families of Gwinnett County.

Rainbow Village - Rainbow Village is a transitional housing community for homeless families with children. Most of the heads of household at Rainbow Village are women who have fled lives full of domestic violence and poverty.

Salvation Army - The Salvation Army, an international movement, is an evangelical part of the universal Christian church. Its message is based on the Bible. Its ministry is motivated by the love of God. Its mission is to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet human needs in His name without discrimination.

SouthEast Gwinnett Coop - The SE Gwinnett Coop and its partners promote the Kingdom of God by providing our community with a way to minister to families in crisis needing immediate emergency assistance with food, clothing, financial support and counseling during their time of need.

Street Grace - Street GRACE is an alliance of Christian churches, community partners and volunteers that supports and collaborates with individuals and organizations dedicated to eradicating the commercial sexual exploitation of children (CSEC). Street GRACE mobilizes community resources — financial, human and material — to help individuals and organizations effectively fighting CSEC through advocacy, prevention and restoration.
